Eating to Lose!

Farmers Market

You’re sitting there crunching on some celery one afternoon, smiling to yourself about how healthy your choice is. Well guess what? It may be even healthier than you think! Celery is a zero calorie food, meaning that you are actually burning more calories eating the food than the amount of calories the food actually contains.

There are a lot of zero calorie foods you can enjoy. The best part of these foods are that they are often substantial, and packed with extremely beneficial nutrients. Individuals trying to lose weight will drink glass after glass of water to try and satiate their hunger until the next meal. If this sounds like something you do, it’s time for you to know that you can actually eat something and not feel guilty. Cucumbers, celery, and carrots are great choices as zero calorie snacks, just don’t pair with ranch dressing or peanut butter, that sort of defeats the purpose.

What if you have a bit of a sweet tooth? There are plenty of zero calorie snacks to satisfy those of us who need to satisfy our sweet taste buds. Pineapples, apples, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and strawberries are some delicious zero calorie sweets. You may want to buy these items organic, just because mass produced fruit farms are often heavily sprayed with pesticides.

Cantaloupe, honeydew, and watermelon are some other delicious zero calorie snacks, and have been shown to be great foods to start the day with. They can help to boost your metabolism for the rest of the day. Pair these fruits with green tea and lemon and you have helped set your body’s pace for the day. Odds are you’ll feel good, refreshed, and will want to continue with your healthy choices throughout the day.

When it comes to dinner time, you’ll most likely be having some protein and carbohydrates, which you very well should, however there are plenty of delicious zero calorie foods to add into your meal. Mushrooms, onions, chill peppers, green beans, and broccoli are awesome dinner staples that you don’t have to feel guilty about. They don’t slack in the flavor department either.

I think it’s important for you to know how many delicious and nutritious snacking options you have. These foods are not only saving you calories, but they’re providing you with nutrients, antioxidants, and vitamins your body needs to function properly throughout the day. So the next time you’re shopping stock up on some of these zero calorie snacks!
